Musical Outreach by Michael Garber

Giving music to others to lift their spirits and make them feel better!—that’s music outreach.

About the Project Print E-mail

Welcome to the Tin Pan Alley Project.

Tin Pan Alley was the popular music industry that gave us the great songs of 1890 to 1955—everything from “Daisy, Daisy” to “High Hopes,” and including “Over the Rainbow,” “White Christmas,” “Summertime,” and thousands of others!

This site offers information, advice, and community for users, enthusiasts, and scholars of the wonderful songs of Tin Pan Alley—and more!

Tin Pan Alley produced a heritage of songs that have many uses.

One of the most powerful uses of Tin Pan Alley songs is to raise our spirits. At the Tin Pan Alley project, we firmly believe that music is a primary means for enhancing our Life Energy — the power inside each of us to heal our bodies, minds, and emotions. Tin Pan Alley songs are a wonderful and easy way to activate the music inside of ourselves and others, cheering us up and bringing us closer to others.

This site is designed to:

Help people find the songs in sheet music form

Direct people to what the songs' uses are

Supply advise about effective repertoire for various situations

Help to facilitate the uses people make of Tin Pan Alley songs

Help to enhance the uses

On the Tin Pan Alley Project website, you will find the words of songs, sheet music for songs, articles about Tin Pan Alley, entries about specific songs, bibliographies of relevant publications and websites, and extracts of interviews about the songs and the era of the songs.

There will be articles of general interest, as well as writings for teachers of all kinds and for scholars.

The Tin Pan Alley Project is part of the Song Heritage Association.
